Social Studies Education Students Visited The Troy Archaeological Site and Museum

On May 16, 2025, students from the Department of Social Studies Education at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ), specifically in the 2nd and 3rd grades, conducted a practical study at the Troy Archaeological Site and the Troy Museum as part of their "Community Service Practices" course. A total of 45 students participated in the field study, which was guided by Lecturer Gülsen Erginal. The event aimed to develop students' social awareness, instill a sense of cultural heritage, and enable them to learn by observing local values firsthand.

During the field investigation at the Troy Archaeological Site, students gained knowledge about the historical structures of the ancient city and had the opportunity to observe the archaeological work in the area. Afterward, while visiting the Troy Museum, students experienced how historical narratives are integrated with modern museology through digital applications and the exhibited artifacts, thereby connecting the past with the present.

In an informative tour led by ÇOMÜ doctoral student Archaeologist Enes Can and Expert Archaeologist Hüdai Süha Can, presentations were made regarding the process of Troy's entry into the UNESCO World Heritage List and the cultural significance of the region.
