Second-year students from the Department of Social Studies Teacher Education at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ), Faculty of Education, organized a waste collection activity as part of their Community Service Practices course. The event aimed to raise environmental awareness and foster social consciousness.

On this special day, marked by the enthusiasm of the May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, a group of 20 students carried out a large-scale waste collection operation at Kepez Public Beach. The activity was planned and implemented under the coordination of Lecturer Gülsen Erginal from the Department of Social Studies Teacher Education. Organized within the framework of the Community Service Practices course, the event aimed to help students gain not only academic knowledge but also a sense of environmental and social responsibility.

The students gathered at the Kepez shoreline in the early morning and conducted a thorough cleaning operation along the coastal area. Among the collected waste were plastic bottles, broken glass, cigarette butts, metal pieces, and textile materials—many of which pose serious threats to the environment.
